Lost Shaker of Salt
Origin
In trying to think of a way to remember Beth, take her with us, and honor her at the same time, the idea of the lost shaker of salt came up. Beth was a parrot head to a level few achieve. She attended over 40 (probably over 50) Jimmy Buffet concerts. The salt shaker is just our way of bringing Beth with us and spreading the word about her where ever we go. Maybe others will see the shaker scan the QR code and learn more about a person who cared about others more than herself and was the friend we all wish that we could be...
Bucket List
As mentioned, Beth was a very large Jimmy Buffet fan, but her bucket list was to meet the keyboardist Mike Utley. Mike was a relative, but she always wondered if he would know their shared family. From the beginning, we all heard about those connections and how she couldn't believe that her grandparents would know about Jimmy Buffet and it was surreal to watch him on TV with them because they want to see Mike play. Her dream of meeting Mike happened and it was a very special couple of days talking with both he and his sister. Her parents and grandparents would have been proud of her for making those family connections... and yes, Mr. Utley knew all of the connections.
Change the world
Beth believed that education was the silver bullet that could change the world. Too many people do not get the opportunity to learn and grow to their fullest potential. She felt that if people were given an opportunity for more education, it would spark something that would then lead them to doing even greater things. A scholarship in her name has been established and any donation to that scholarship will help someone with financial need in Arkansas achieve their goals and hopefully change the world... Whatever you choose to do, leave tracks. That means don't do if just for yourself. You will want to leave the world a little better for your having lived.
